Hi William:

It was a pleasure to assist your class with your Greek Mythology project this morning. I am glad you asked about Ares.

Here is the information I got from Britannica Middle School, which I share with your class this morning:

In ancient Greek religion and mythology, Ares was the god of war and one of the 12 major deities who lived on Mount Olympus. He was known as a warrior, carried a spear and wore a helmet and armor, which would be expected of a warrior.

Ares represented the savage, bloody and destructive aspects of battles. He was never a very popular God, probably because of this, and was not widely worshipped.

All of this information, and more, can be found on the VLC, under Games and Databases.
