Hello Charlotte

Thank you for your question.

I hate to disappoint you but I'm not Santa Claus and I don't live in the North Pole.... Although it can get pretty snowy and cold here in Canada during the winter. I work in a school Learning Commons (kind of like your School Library).

It is part of my job to answer questions from students like you.  So here it goes....

There are some explanations as to why Santa lives in the North Pole.  The most popular one is that when you think of Christmas and Santa, you think of snow.  And where else would you expect to find lots of snow but in the North.  Also the North Pole is mysterious because very few people have been there.  Without a lot of visitors, Santa can work his magic in secret.  Lastly, the North Pole is at the top of the world so it is easier for Santa to keep an eye on whether everyone is naughty or nice.

I hope you have a very Merry Christmas with your family and friends.

Mrs. Cornelisse
