A great starting place for tips on "How to start your research?" can be found by clicking on the "How Do I..." tab located on the top menu bar of the Virtual Learning Commons Home page. When you hover over the tab, click on the option for Students 9-12.  This will take you to the following page https://vlc.ucdsb.ca/howdoi9-12

If you are an Upper Canada District School Board student, you will have access to all of the licensed databases for doing your research.  Many of the databases will require passwords that you can request from your school's Learning Commons Informationist or through the VLC AskUs/Demande Moi feature.  Passwords will only be sent to UCDSB email addresses.  Other school boards may also subscribe to some of the databases. Check with your teacher or your own school librarian to see if this is the case and to get the applicable passwords for your school.
